The Pugilist evolved from the legendary Fender(c) 5F6-A Bassman amp of yesteryear.  This is the amplifier that inspired Jim Marshall's JTM-45, and eventually, the Plexi.  The Pugilist has three 12AX7 preamp tubes, two fixed-biased output tubes, and a tube rectifier, but can also be ordered with a Solid State Rectifier.. 

The control panel on the Pugilist features an Input jack, and controls for Volume, Master Volume, Treble, Mid-tone, Bass and Presence.    The tone stack is by-passable by pulling out on the Bass Knob.  The Pugilist also features a gain boost switch, which adds another stage of tube gain to the circuit, activated by pulling out on the Master Volume knob.  This gain stage picks up where the stock gain stage ends!  With the flick of the switch, you can turn your stock amp into a high gain amplifier; another flick of the switch and your back to the original stock tone. 

With this option, plus the ability to change out preamp, power, and rectifier tubes, the tone possibilities are endless.  The Pugilist is also available as a non master volume amplifier without gain switch.  12AX7 substitutes may be used in the Pugilist to customize the gain structure of the amplifier for anything from clean blues to aggressive lead tones.

The Pugilist accepts KT66's, El34's, 6L6's, 5881's, 6CA7's and other standard octal output tubes.  Just swap out and re-bias using my user friendly bias test system.  Depending on your choice of output tubes, the Pugilist would provide about 45 to 50 watts of power.  If you are  looking for less power, you can order your Pugilist equipped with 6V6's for about 25 watts.  Also available in 100 watt High Power Option.  The Pugilist is user selectable between 4, 8, and 16 ohms for use with a variety of speaker cabs.
