About the Returned Check Program
Returned checks are an expensive and time consuming problem for the merchants, businesses and law enforcement agencies in this community. In an effort to combat this problem, the County Attorney has established the Return Check Program to assist local merchants with bad check losses. The goal of the Returned Check Program is to obtain full restitution for the victim without adding to the financial burden of the criminal justice system.
In order to successfully assist our local merchants, the County Attorney’s office requires necessary information about the check writer. This information increases the chances of getting full restitution and proving the case in court. Although we will take initial steps toward obtaining restitution for you, without certain information the County Attorney simply will not be able to prosecute.
Please return our Request for Prosecution Form along with a receipt for the statutory fee of $10.00 per check, and the original check marked Insufficient Funds or Account Closed to the Pretrial Diversion office.
