Current trip
We will be working for a non profit group named Re-Member which is located just outside of the town of Pine Ridge, SD. Some of the work sites will entail:
- Helping elders and disabled people with home repair and cleaning projects.
- Begin plans for building new houses.
We will stay in one of their two housing units, sleeping on bunk beds or may sleep in a tipi. Meals will be provided in their dining hall.

FOUR MISSION TRIPS TO THE PINE RIDGE
First year
- We reconstructed a round ceremonial shelter used in ceremonies for young girls who have entered puberty.
- We also began construction of 2 outdoor shower facilities at the site.
Second year
- We completed the shower facilities.
- Began construction of large group housing facilities in a large quonset structure. Sleeping, cooking, and shower facilities have been constructed at that site by Dallas Chief Eagle.
Third year
- We built a flight of stairs down a hill to the site of a sweat lodge.
- We built 14 benches whose backs can be brought forward with 2 benches becoming one picnic table.
- We built a meeting house which will be used by the people attending the sweat lodge as a changing facility, as a place for meals before or after a sweat lodge and as a gathering place for meetings.
Fourth year
We built a picnic shelter at a Sun Dance site.
(Years three and four were mostly adults who went to finish projects our larger groups had started.)
Lakota Prayer
Wakan Tanka, Great Mystery,
teach me how to trust
my heart,
my mind,
my intuition,
my inner knowing,
the senses of my body,
the blessings of my spirit.
Teach me to trust these things
so that I may enter my Sacred Space
and love beyond my fear,
and thus Walk in Balance
with the passing of each glorious Sun.
