The City owns and operates a Recycling Center, donated to them by the Izaac Walton League. A part-time employee along with volunteer efforts by local service organizations runs this center. Citizen participation is totally volunteer.
The Recycling Center accepts:
- Newspaper
- Magazines
- Mail
- Catalogs
- Glossy Paper (tied in bundles or placed flat in brown grocery bag)
- Cardboard (tied in flat bundles & placed flat in trailer)
- Plastic
- Numbers 1 & 2 plastic containers
- milk jugs
- 2-liter & small pop bottles
- soap & bleach containers (with lids removed, sorted by type)
- Steel (tin) cans (washed, remove label & lids)
- Batteries (automotive, with no holes & lids on)
- Computer paper (bag in grocery sacks, separate from other paper & no staples)
